I made these molecular + simulations in order to test the efficiency of Blender’s new version of the Eevee rendering engine when dealing with 1000s of particle instances. IMO, Eevee works fine up to 250K particles but beyond that it starts to be slower than cycles. The last test was of 768K particles and I ended up rendering it using cycles because Eevee took nearly twice as long to render per frame.
