In this video, I am explaining a quick and easy method to get a twist over a twist to make a CANDY like 3D Mesh using nodes.
I am quite sure in the past I have done a similar thing using Grease Pencil and Polyline Curve, which might give you a better and cleaner twist. However I do quite like the imperfection of this method which can be improved in the future:
