AR / Splash Fox Baking
I did a quick AR 3D baking of this beautiful 3D painterly artwork for Blender 2.90 ”Splash Fox” by Daniel Bystedt. I simplified the materials for the fox and the eyes, baking them as PBR texture maps. Exporting the models as GLB then USDZ for iPhone viewing.
This is decimated 1/10 of original poly count. Around 42 MB GLB and 27 MB of USDZ file with textures.
I have not tested the instance particles fires. The baker tool I use is Bake PBR addon by Oscurart. It’s not 100% perfect, but fast and easy to use.
Ideally it would just work right out of Blender and perhaps render in realtime render engine like Eevee. Or something like Sketchfab render engine. Maybe as VR content. Imagine Splash Fox but animated!
As for now, for sharing across devices, I think Apple AR (USDZ) is a great portable format works instantly on every Apple devices today. However GLB maybe via WebXR works universally.
