Your First Game Jam hosted by Kristin, Elena, Code Monkey and Eleonora
Hey there! I’m your host Kristin from Unity. During this livestream I will be joined by two amazing YouTubers – Eleonora and Code Monkey – as well as my colleague Elena Nizhnik.

Want more info?

Here it is. We (this includes you!) are going to take a free ready-made FPS microgame and customize it – live! At the end, we’ll show you how you can share your game on the web so anyone can play. If you’ve never used Unity or are very new to it, we will guide you step by step. All you have to do is come prepared (see below) and follow along. And if you get stuck, just ask for help in the live chat and our amazing cohosts and I will help you get back on track.

The cool thing about this game jam is that you can influence what we show you. We’ll definitely show you some of our favorite things that you can do, like how to add bosses, special weapons and cool game mechanics. But we’re excited to hear YOUR ideas of what you want to do with the FPS Microgame – so we’ll be watching the live chat to decide which ideas we will bring to life. Oh, and did I mention we’ll be giving away cool FPS assets during the stream to some lucky attendees just for participating? Now, let’s get you ready for the stream.

TWEET TO WIN A PRIZE!

Once we are live, all you need to do is tweet using the hashtag #yourfirstgamejam and tag @unity3d to let us know you’re watching. If you have a screenshot of your FPS game, share it! Feel free to tag our hosts, so they can check out your projects.

HOW TO PREPARE

We are going to jump straight into Unity to show you how to customize the FPS Microgame, so come ready. See the “Come prepared” steps here:

FAQs:
Q: Do I need any Unity or programming experience to attend?
A: Nope! This jam is for people who are new to Unity. We just ask that you arrive ready to jam (see above).

Q: What are the system requirements to install Unity?
A: https://on.unity.com/3fzPkUs

Q: How long is the jam?
A: We’ll be jamming for about 2.5–3 hours. Of course, you’re free to pop in and out. We’ll do our best to make sure it’s easy for people to just jump right back in with us!

Q: Will it be recorded/published?
A: Yes! The stream will be converted to a video once it ends, so you can review it at any time. If you missed it live, you can watch it at your convenience.

Q: What is a game jam?
A: This game jam is unique because it’s hosted online, it’s for beginners, we’re using a game template, it’s short, and we (pretty much) know what we’re going to show you. A “traditional” game jam is an in-person event where you would typically gather with more experienced programmers, game designers, artists, etc. to create a game or project from scratch within a time span averaging 24–72 hours.
