BSLIVE Blender 3D Sculpting with Catalina Sidecar (BETA UPDATE)
Once again I am testing iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, ”running” Blender 2.80 via Sidecar feature of MacOS Catalina.
NOTE: This is probably the 8th update for Developer and it’s getting close to final. You can test the 7th Public Beta for MacOS Catalina.
In this episode, I am also casually looking to simple Masking while sculpting. First time actually for me using Mask while sculpting in Blender. The hotkeys are starting to stick.
At the very end I am giving a bit of baking the Normal and Displacement Map from Multires.
Overall impression:
Sculpting with Apple Pencil feels great, pressure feels natural and buttery smooth. There are still few gotchas. You can work with just the iPad time to time, but you will definitely miss the Hotkeys, ideally it should be a Touch Bar feature. You will probably still work with your main computer with iPad as your side partner. Blender fully running on iPad will be a dream. But very likely it will run on cloud at some point.
