”Blending brains: Tales from the neuro department” by Jordan Matelsky at Blender Conference 2025

Neuroscience research now regularly involves exploring and visualizing complicated tissue and processing terabytes to petabytes of 3D and 4D data. This talk showcases how the neuroscience research team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory uses Blender to enable cutting-edge neuroscience and neurology, with real stories and data from spinal cord imaging and brain-mapping connectomics. The talk will include how we use Blender to explore nanometer-resolution neuroanatomy, and plan complicated surgeries through custom Blender workflows using Geometry Nodes, EEVEE, and with brand new features from Blender 4.5.
