Gimp Beginners Tutorial: Colorize Or Color Splash Black and White Photos.
How to create a colour splash or colorized picture from a black and white photograph.
Splash of colour refers to the effect of the use of a coloured item on an otherwise monochrome image to draw extra attention to the item. It has been used frequently in films as a form of emphasis. Some commercials will film a portion in black and white, except the product which appears in colour.
Colourisation or colourization is any process that adds color to black-and-white, sepia, or other monochrome images. It may be done as a special effect, to ”modernize” black-and-white films, or to restore color films. The first examples date from the early 20th century, but colorization has become common with the advent of digital image processing.
