BSLIVE / Using VRoid Studio and Blender 2.80 to Make AR Virtual Idol
There are actually a huge community and dedicated 3D CG artists actually works on making virtual anime 3D characters. VRoid studio is one of the best free app out there that allows you to generate custom 3D virtual character or idol.

If you have ever heard of VRM or MMD or Hatsune Miku dance and all kind of those terminologies, you definitely have been exposed to this world of amazing virtual idols. In 2019, you can make your own Augmented Reality AR idols.

I am showing you the basic process of getting the model into Blender so that you can animate it and perhaps at later stage exporting it out as GLTF, GLB or Apple USDZ for Reality Composer.

You will be needing CATS addon to bring VRM 3D model from VRoid Studio into Blender, but the whole process is already so much easier than before.

I will be testing the MMD dance animation and applying it as AR animation. We will see if the whole thing works~

NOTE:
Apparently MMD dance animation motion data only works with PMD, VMD, etc asset. And that’s a different thing. But check CATS sample folder and you will see example of Miku Dance. VRoid is a different thing and used for realtime VR chat.
