BSLIVE Random Sculpting in Blender 2.80 With Apple Pencil and iPad Pro with MacOS Catalina Sidecar
This is a 25 minutes video recording of me testing Apple Pencil and Blender 2.80 performance, recorded on iPad Pro, using SIDECAR feature that works under MacOS Catalina, running on MacBookPro. It’s a mouthful but pretty cool actually that this actually works! – only if you are both Apple and Blender geek like me.

I supposed it is possible for one to work with this setup outdoor, maybe like to bring my MacBookPro inside my bag and then sculpt away with the Apple Pencil. Maybe wifi network is required for wireless mode? Have to test that. But wired is possible. You might need a long UBS-C cable.

Sculpting is an ART form that takes years to master. My skill is probably like baby level or lower. However I do enjoy 3D sculpting, providing that have a good base mesh to start with. For this however I am just using the Default Cube, and randomly sculpt away without much planning.

I am actually curious with VDB volumetric way of modeling, like when using Oculus or HTC Vive VR tools, it is probably a totally different way of working. But Blender 3D sculpting is still pretty powerful if one practice a lot.

I ended up with an ugly looking sculpted 3d box, but still it has human hands feel. I could create a better looking box using Displacement map, but still it feels fun and satisfying.

Anyways, overal impression: Great job MacOS Catalina and SIDECAR feature allowing Blender 2.80 to work with iPad and Apple Pencil. Huge thumbs up. Hopefully this is not the last we see Blender on Mac. Such a strange pair, but interesting nevertheless.
