LIVENODING / Modular Tree Nodes FIRST LOOK
This is my first look video exploring the Modular Tree Add-On by Maxime Herpin for Blender. Basically this is yet another awesome add-on especially for generating tree procedurally using nodes!
I tested the addon on both Blender 2.79 and 2.80, you need to download the right branch from Github.
The 2.80 version of modular tree add-on has a lot more advanced nodes and parameters, and actually works great already despite 2.80 still in beta.
My first impression: This addon is highly intuitive and simple to use and you can see the resulting procedural tree mesh in realtime. You build trunk, branch, root, and can continue grow and split using nodes.
Keep in mind that you can easily generate a very complex tree and Blender might froze. So be very gentle with parameters.
I probably will have to dig into the addon a bit more. Like the LEAF part actually needs Twig Node, Execute, in order for it to generate leafs that you can instance into the tree. You also have option for armature and adding simple dynamics like wind.
I don’t have chance to properly add proper materials and shadings to the tree, but so far the generated tree looks quite detailed as it is.
Perhaps in the future we can have PRESETS or a collaborative sharing the result being generated using this modular tree addon.
Give it a try and enjoy!
