ZBrush 2019 is here and with it a host of new features to check out. I’m Follygon and in this video we’ll be taking a look at the new NPR tools added to ZBrush 2019.
At first glance this feature looks really gimmicky, but after I had the opportunity to get in and play with it and also see the crazy things that everyone else was doing – I think these filters are going to have some really cool uses. I could totally see them being used for rending images for something like a children’s book or a variety of different styles for prints that you could hang on your wall. So let’s get in and start experimenting with these filters.
If you would like to have your work critiqued, send a ZTL file to Follygon@gmail.com and include some info about what you would like me to look at.
Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR)
This new series of tools create a sketch style which replicates the hand drawn 2D feel and look. With the ability to add overlaying textures, apply a halftone printed paper style, draw a dark outline around the 3D model or apply a number of built-in presets, the new NPR system will open an entire world of artistic possibilities — whether you are concepting, sculpting, or preparing a final render.
