Ellio Labs is a health and beauty startup that creates custom-fitted, 3D-printed eye masks to reduce morning “eye bags” by preventing fluid build up.

Their well-document design workflow involved repetitive, manual, and expert-level processing steps to turn a 3D scan of the customer’s face into a custom liner and frame ready for 3D printing.

We at Orange Turbine transformed their workflow into a guided wizard, where each step involves clicking on landmarks, dragging control points, providing simple inputs, or verifying that automated processing output is satisfactory. Overall, complexity of mask creation has significantly reduced, the repeatability has increased, and design time has reduced from 90 minutes to 5 minutes.

In this talk, we present how we created this user-friendly wizard system, what we learned along the way, and how we will approach similar future projects.
